Hello! My name is Breanna and I am the creator and author of SciNatura.com! I started this blog as a place to chronicle my way through my PhD and as a place to share what I am learning and researching.
I am currently in the second year of my doctoral program at Iowa State University where I study urban hydrology and geographical information systems, or GIS.
I love all things water, nature, and maps! I study urban hydrology and how to reduce flooding and water pollution in our cities. With GIS we can look at how rain water moves through a city, picking up pollutants and accumulating to flood levels, in new and enlightening ways. I work with urban residents to reduce water pollution and flooding by restoring the natural hydrologic cycle in urban areas through stormwater Best Management Practices, or BMPs.
If you want to learn more about how I got to this point, read My Journey to Today post here!
In my personal life I love reading, travel, and my 80 lb fur-child Loki.
